Цветы сикоморы - это её "плоды". Они висят гроздьями на мощном стволе и длинных, толстых ветвях этого величественного дерева.
Родиной сикоморы является Египет, поэтому дерево называют ещё египетская фига, а его плоды - фигами.
"...Фига является соплодием, а не плодом, и образуется из соцветия. Цветы растения находятся на дне фиги и расположены в шахматном порядке. Их много, они тычиночные, с длинными либо короткими пестиками. При созревании входное отверстие фиги закрывается. Самцы насекомых-опылителей делают в стенке плода узкий проход для самок, а также срезают тычинки и оставляют их в кучке. Самки пробираются к срезанным тычинкам и собирают пыльцу в специальные «карманы». По дороге, в тесном проходе, они обрывают крылья, которые закупоривают отверстия. Дороги назад нет, и самки помещают пыльцу в длиннопестичные цветки, а яйца откладывают в короткопестичные.
Впрочем, на Ближнем Востоке существуют сикоморы, образующие фиги и без опыления. Для этого плоды надсекают вручную... Работа монотонная и нелегкая, ведь обработать нужно тысячи фиг, но в квалификации особой не нуждается, поэтому тамошнее выражение «надсекать сикоморы» сродни нашему «бить баклуши».
Вкус фиги сикомора напоминает инжир, но несколько преснее и водянистее...

Какие фиги на этих фотографиях, опылённые или не опылённые, сказать трудно, но "баклуши" точно никто не бил и фиги не надсекал.
Зелёные, жёлтые, оранжевые и розовые фиги висят отдельными гроздьями или покрывают ветки сплошным разноцветным ковром и создают ощущение праздника. Очень красивое, яркое зрелище, чем-то напоминающее лампочки на новогодней ёлке.
Дорогие соотечественники, не ругайте сикомору за гниющие фиги под ногами. Поднимите голову, полюбуйтесь на цветущую красавицу. Можете попробовать её фиги, они мало чем отличаются по вкусу от дикого инжира.
